Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2000 Christies in New York held the auction American Paintings, which included the work Pipe and Newspapers by Ben Austrian. The price achieved of USD 8,225.00 (€ 8,617.08) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ben Austrian - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Hen and Chicks in the Hay, which sold at auction in February 2002 for USD 22,325.00 (€ 25,785.40).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2000 führte Christies in New York die Auktion American Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Pipe and Newspapers von Ben Austrian zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 8.225,00 (€ 8.617,08) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Ben Austrian mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Hen and Chicks in the Hay beobachtet, die im Februar 2002 für USD 22.325,00 (€ 25.785,40) versteigert wurde.
