Despite a disappointment, a good price for Bartolommeo Torregiani

When the work The Finding of Moses (Ex. 2:1-10) by Bartolommeo Torregiani was auctioned at Christies in New York in February 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,975.00 (€ 5,543.19). Despite this disappointing result, The Finding of Moses (Ex. 2:1-10) is the most expensive artwork by Bartolommeo Torregiani that we have observed at auction so far.
