Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Judith by Barthel Beham was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,181.88). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Barthel Beham achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Ludwig X, Duke Of Bavaria in July 2016 with an auction result of GBP 317,000.00 (€ 376,664.58).
