Auction result well in line with expectations
This work without title by Barry McGee was sold in the 21st Century Art Day Sale auction at Christies in Hong Kong in December 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 412,500.00 (€ 46,724.24) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Barry McGee - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in April 2021 for GBP 113,400.00 (€ 130,442.99).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Barry McGee wurde im Dezember 2021 in der Auktion 21st Century Art Day Sale bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 400.000,00 – 600.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 412.500,00 (€ 46.724,24) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Barry McGee mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit ohne Titel beobachtet, die im April 2021 für GBP 113.400,00 (€ 130.442,99) versteigert wurde.
