Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Mosque on the banks of the Nile by Auguste Louis Veillon was sold in the 19th Century European & Orientalist Art auction at Christies in London in July 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,409.15) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Auguste Louis Veillon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Temple at Philae, which sold at auction in July 2018 for GBP 30,000.00 (€ 33,636.60).
