Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Sunset by August Vilella was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in September 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 30,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at HKD 94,500.00 (€ 10,480.95). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by August Vilella; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Reaching Dreams sold at auction in July this year with the realized price of HKD 101,600.00 (€ 11,819.53).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Sunset von August Vilella im September 2021 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 30.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 94.500,00 (€ 10.480,95) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von August Vilella; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Reaching Dreams im Juli diesen Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 101.600,00 (€ 11.819,53).
