Auction result misses estimated price range
In February 2002 a collector was able to acquire the work Mother and daughter, farmer's wife and miner's wife by August Sander for USD 1,175.00 (€ 1,357.13). This price was achieved in the auction Photographs at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by August Sander achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Porträts aus „Menschen des 20. Jahrhunderts“. in November 2019 with an auction result of EUR 949,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Februar 2002 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Mother and daughter, farmer's wife and miner's wife von August Sander für USD 1.175,00 (€ 1.357,13) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Photographs bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von August Sander erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Porträts aus „Menschen des 20. Jahrhunderts“. im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 949.000,00.
