Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2004 a collector was able to acquire the work An Estuary Landscape by Arthur John Black for GBP 358.50 (€ 515.70). This price was achieved in the auction At Home - British and Continental Pictures at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Arthur John Black achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Waking Moon in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 8,892.38).
