Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Hereford Cathederal and Palace; and Hereford Cathederal from the river by Arthur Gilbert was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2005. The price achieved of GBP 1,080.00 (€ 1,592.67) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Admittedly, works by Arthur Gilbert have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The road up Snowdon, North Wales; and Loch Maree, Scotland in March 2004 with an auction result of GBP 5,736.00 (€ 8,586.27).
