In April 2011 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work Study for 'Mending the Nets' by Ambrose McEvoy. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,750.00 (€ 1,970.80), 46% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Ambrose McEvoy have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Dorothy Duveen, Three-Quarter Length, Seated On A Red Chair in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 13,200.00 (€ 19,588.14).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 46 % übertroffen
Im April 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Christie's Interiors durch, in der auch die Arbeit Study for 'Mending the Nets' von Ambrose McEvoy zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.750,00 (€ 1.970,80) und damit 46% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ambrose McEvoy auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of Dorothy Duveen, Three-Quarter Length, Seated On A Red Chair im Juni 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 13.200,00 (€ 19.588,14).
