Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Lydia by Ambrose McEvoy was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 9,450.00 (€ 8,113.68). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ambrose McEvoy - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of Dorothy Duveen, Three-Quarter Length, Seated On A Red Chair, which sold at auction in June 2007 for GBP 13,200.00 (€ 19,588.14).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Lydia von Ambrose McEvoy im Oktober 2020 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 9.450,00 (€ 8.113,68) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Ambrose McEvoy mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of Dorothy Duveen, Three-Quarter Length, Seated On A Red Chair beobachtet, die im Juni 2007 für GBP 13.200,00 (€ 19.588,14) versteigert wurde.
