This price was achieved in the auction Victorian & British Impressionist Pictures Including Drawings & Watercolours at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Ambrose McEvoy; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait of Dorothy Duveen, Three-Quarter Length, Seated On A Red Chair sold at auction in June 2007 with the realized price of GBP 13,200.00 (€ 19,588.14).
