Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Chatham Square Station, 1941 by Arnold Eagle was sold in the Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century auction at Christies in Sydney in August this year. The price achieved of USD 2,016.00 (€ 1,859.95) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Arnold Eagle - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work One Third of a Nation: A Social Document, 1938, which sold at auction in October 2008 for USD 7,500.00 (€ 5,913.89).
