In the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art; Maritime Art; Sporting & Wildlife Art auction, the work The Purple Cloche sold for GBP 13,125.00 (€ 17,823.12) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Archibald George Barnes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A backwater of the Thames, which sold at auction in July 2016 for GBP 31,250.00 (€ 37,131.76).
