Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Madonna and Child with Saint Catherine of Siena by Antonio Domenico Gabbiani was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 11,970.00 (€ 10,676.06). Admittedly, works by Antonio Domenico Gabbiani have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Group portrait of three gentlemen, half-length, one in a red doublet holding a viola da gamba in one hand and a miniature portrait in the other, the second in a brown coat with a silk cravat, holding a letter, the last holding up a medal from a chain in February 2005 with an auction result of GBP 55,200.00
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Madonna and Child with Saint Catherine of Siena von Antonio Domenico Gabbiani im Januar letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 11.970,00 (€ 10.676,06) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Antonio Domenico Gabbiani auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Group portrait of three gentlemen, half-length, one in a red doublet holding a viola da gamba in one hand and a miniature portrait in the other, the second in a brown coat with a silk cravat, holding a letter, the last holding up a medal from a chain im Februar 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 55.200,00 (€ 80.047,07).
