Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2002 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master and 19th Century Drawings including Property from, which included the work A female nude, half-length, leaning forward, her arms before her breasts by Antoine Watteau. The price achieved of USD 94,000.00 (€ 109,378.64) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Antoine Watteau achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Pèlerinage a l’Ile de Cythère in January this year with an auction result of USD 1,860,000.00 (€ 1,713,022.66).

Im Januar 2002 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Drawings including Property from durch, in der auch die Arbeit A female nude, half-length, leaning forward, her arms before her breasts von Antoine Watteau zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 94.000,00 (€ 109.378,64) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Antoine Watteau erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le Pèlerinage a l’Ile de Cythère im Januar diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.860.000,00 (€ 1.713.022,66).
