Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Antoine-Jean Gros achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in January last year. In the Master Paintings Part II auction, the work Head of Charlemagne sold for USD 47,880.00 (€ 42,704.25) - well above the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Antoine-Jean Gros achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portait of Napoleon Bonaparte, full-length, as First Consul in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 1,352,000.00 (€ 1,961,063.24).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Antoine-Jean Gros erzielte im Januar letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Master Paintings Part II wurde die Arbeit Head of Charlemagne für USD 47.880,00 (€ 42.704,25) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 20.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Antoine-Jean Gros erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portait of Napoleon Bonaparte, full-length, as First Consul im Juli 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.352.000,00 (€ 1.961.063,24).
