Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2024 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master & British Drawings, which included the work A sheet of studies of cavalry, horses and two heads by Antoine-Jean Gros. The price achieved of USD 10,080.00 (€ 8,809.65) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Antoine-Jean Gros achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portait of Napoleon Bonaparte, full-length, as First Consul in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 1,352,000.00 (€ 1,961,063.24).

Im Februar 2024 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master & British Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit A sheet of studies of cavalry, horses and two heads von Antoine-Jean Gros zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 10.080,00 (€ 8.809,65) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Antoine-Jean Gros erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portait of Napoleon Bonaparte, full-length, as First Consul im Juli 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.352.000,00 (€ 1.961.063,24).
