Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Le pèlerinage aux Saintes-Maries-de-la-mer by Anto Carte was auctioned at Sothebys in Paris in March 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at - in retrospect quite modest - EUR 120,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at EUR 436,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Anto Carte; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Le Pain sold at auction in March 2019 with the realized price of EUR 516,500.00.
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Le pèlerinage aux Saintes-Maries-de-la-mer von Anto Carte im März 2021 bei Sothebys in Paris versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – EUR 120.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit EUR 436.000,00 mehr als dreimal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Anto Carte; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Le Pain im März 2019 mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 516.500,00.
