In December 2019 Christies in New York held the auction Ansel Adams and the American West: Photographs from the Center for Creative Photography, which included the work Storm Surf and Rocks, Timber Cove, California, c. 1960 by Ansel Adams. The result of USD 6,000.00 (€ 5,344.26) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ansel Adams achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Grand Tetons and the Snake River, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 988,000.00 (€ 807,849.55).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Dezember 2019 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Ansel Adams and the American West: Photographs from the Center for Creative Photography durch, in der auch die Arbeit Storm Surf and Rocks, Timber Cove, California, c. 1960 von Ansel Adams zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 6.000,00 (€ 5.344,26) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ansel Adams erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Grand Tetons and the Snake River, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 988.000,00 (€ 807.849,55).
