In May 2000 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master Paintings from the Lagerfeld Collection, which included the work A female faun with children at play, a feigned bas-relief by Anne Vallayer-Coster. The »bidding war« ended at USD 32,900.00 (€ 35,270.15), 65% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Anne Vallayer-Coster achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nature morte au vase d’albâtre rempli de fleurs avec sur une table plusieurs espèces de fruits, comme ananas, pêches et raisins in June this year with an auction result of EUR 2,581,000.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 65 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2000 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master Paintings from the Lagerfeld Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit A female faun with children at play, a feigned bas-relief von Anne Vallayer-Coster zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 32.900,00 (€ 35.270,15) und damit 65% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Anne Vallayer-Coster erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nature morte au vase d’albâtre rempli de fleurs avec sur une table plusieurs espèces de fruits, comme ananas, pêches et raisins im Juni diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 2.581.000,00.
