Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Grandma Moses achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January this year. In the 19th Century American Art auction, the work On the Back Road, No. 2 sold for USD 44,100.00 (€ 40,615.21) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Grandma Moses achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sugaring Off in November 2006 with an auction result of USD 1,360,000.00 (€ 1,025,563.68).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Grandma Moses erzielte im Januar diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 19th Century American Art wurde die Arbeit On the Back Road, No. 2 für USD 44.100,00 (€ 40.615,21) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Grandma Moses erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sugaring Off im November 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.360.000,00 (€ 1.025.563,68).
