In February 2012 Christies in London held the auction 19th Century European Art, which included the work An Italian maiden mending nets on the Bay of Naples by Elisabeth Anna Maria Jerichau-Baumann. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,500.00 (€ 2,985.07), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Elisabeth Anna Maria Jerichau-Baumann have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Shepherd Boy standing before the Parthenon in October 2004 with an auction result of USD 22,705.00 (€ 17,813.43).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Februar 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion 19th Century European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit An Italian maiden mending nets on the Bay of Naples von Elisabeth Anna Maria Jerichau-Baumann zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.500,00 (€ 2.985,07) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Elisabeth Anna Maria Jerichau-Baumann auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Shepherd Boy standing before the Parthenon im Oktober 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 22.705,00 (€ 17.813,43).
