Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Watchers Of The Straight Gate by Anna Lea Merritt was sold in the 19th Century European Art auction at Christies in New York in April 2018. The price achieved of USD 43,750.00 (€ 36,234.88) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Anna Lea Merritt - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Eve, which sold at auction in July 2013 for GBP 121,875.00 (€ 139,263.43).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 36.234,88) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Anna Lea Merritt mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Eve beobachtet, die im Juli 2013 für GBP 121.875,00 (€ 139.263,43) versteigert wurde.
