In November 2003 Christies in New York held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art (Evening Sale), which included the work Self-Portrait by Andy Warhol. The »bidding war« ended at USD 1,407,500.00 (€ 1,173,405.59), 56% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andy Warhol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shot Sage Blue Marilyn in May last year with an auction result of USD 195,040,000.00 (€ 181,753,797.41).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 56 % übertroffen
Im November 2003 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art (Evening Sale) durch, in der auch die Arbeit Self-Portrait von Andy Warhol zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 1.407.500,00 (€ 1.173.405,59) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Andy Warhol erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Shot Sage Blue Marilyn im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 195.040.000,00 (€ 181.753.797,41).
