Upper estimate price exceeded by 48 %.
The work Mao by Andy Warhol was sold in the Contemporary Art Evening Auction auction at Sothebys in London in October 2014. It achieved a price of GBP 962,500.00 (€ 1,228,973.46), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 48%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andy Warhol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shot Sage Blue Marilyn in May last year with an auction result of USD 195,040,000.00 (€ 181,753,797.41).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 48 % übertroffen
