Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Atlanta, 1996 by Andreas Gursky was auctioned at Sothebys in Paris in May last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 2,000.00 – 4,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 1,260.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andreas Gursky achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 99 Cent Ii, Diptych in February 2007 with an auction result of GBP 1,700,000.00 (€ 2,520,188.96).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Atlanta, 1996 von Andreas Gursky im Mai letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in Paris versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 2.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 1.260,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Andreas Gursky erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit 99 Cent Ii, Diptych im Februar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.700.000,00 (€ 2.520.188,96).
