Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2001 Christies in New York held the auction OLD MASTER PAINTINGS, DRAWINGS AND FRAMES, which included the work A female figure surrounded by desporting putti by Andrea Celesti. The price achieved of USD 11,750.00 (€ 13,897.10) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Andrea Celesti have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work David suona l'arpa per Saul in December 2001 with an auction result of ITL 153,125,000.00 (€ 137,624.99).
