Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work Observations On The Means Of Exciting A Spirit Of National Industry. Edinburgh: C. Elliot, 1777 by James Anderson was worth GBP 2,500.00 (€ 2,929.75) to a buyer in March 2017. This price was achieved in the auction Two Great Scottish Collections: Property from the Forbeses of Pitsligo and the Marquesses of Lothian at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 600.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Anderson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View of Rome from the French Academy, Monte Pincio in April 2017 with an auction result of USD 32,500.00 (€ 29,830.20).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Die Arbeit Observations On The Means Of Exciting A Spirit Of National Industry.
