Wash technique on paper, black ink framing lines, framed and glazed.
32 x 18.5 cm.
The artist was a member of the Pita Maha artists' association. Please note that before 1934/35 the artist was known as: I Dewa Gede Meregeg.
Inscribed with the artist's name, and with the name of a previous owner: 'Dormeier, 1933', on the reverse. To be illustrated in a forthcoming book by Dr. A. Vickers: Balinese Painting; Mementoes, Diversions, Masterworks (1928-1942), (Pepin Press).

Auction result misses estimated price range
In September 2001 a collector was able to acquire the work An Angler and Planters in a Padi Field by Anak Agung Gede Meregeg for SGD 3,290.00 (€ 2,046.17). This price was achieved in the auction PRE-WAR BALINESE MODERNISTS: 1928-1942 at Christies in Singapore and was even below the estimate range of SGD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Anak Agung Gede Meregeg have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Cowherd Asleep in September 2001 with an auction result of SGD 18,800.00 (€ 11,692.41).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im September 2001 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit An Angler and Planters in a Padi Field von Anak Agung Gede Meregeg für SGD 3.290,00 (€ 2.046,17) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion PRE-WAR BALINESE MODERNISTS: 1928-1942 bei Christies in Singapur erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von SGD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Anak Agung Gede Meregeg auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Cowherd Asleep im September 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von SGD 18.800,00 (€ 11.692,41).
