Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2013 Sothebys in New York held the auction Latin American Art, which included the work Naturaleza Muerta by Amelia Peláez. The price achieved of USD 197,000.00 (€ 144,789.06) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 175,000.00 – 225,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Amelia Peláez - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Las Hermanas, which sold at auction in May 2013 for USD 569,000.00 (€ 438,096.70).
