Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When this work without title by Amédée Cortier was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in May 2019, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - EUR 800.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at EUR 2,750.00. Admittedly, works by Amédée Cortier have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Red-Black Diptych in November last year with an auction result of EUR 17,640.00.
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit ohne Titel von Amédée Cortier im Mai 2019 bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – EUR 800,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit EUR 2.750,00 mehr als dreimal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Amédée Cortier auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Red-Black Diptych im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 17.640,00.
