Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Australian Playing At The Seaside by Ambrose McCarthy Patterson was sold in the Important Australian Art Including Selected International Works auction at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 10,800.00 (€ 6,458.15) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ambrose McCarthy Patterson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Les Roses Trémières (Hollyhocks), which sold at auction in December 2007 for GBP 14,300.00 (€ 19,431.27).
