In March 2009 Sothebys in London held the auction British and Continental Pictures & 20th Century British Art, which included the work British Portrait Of Lydia Lopokova by Ambrose McEvoy. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,087.63), 50% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ambrose McEvoy - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of Dorothy Duveen, Three-Quarter Length, Seated On A Red Chair, which sold at auction in June 2007 for GBP 13,200.00 (€ 19,588.14).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im März 2009 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion British and Continental Pictures & 20th Century British Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit British Portrait Of Lydia Lopokova von Ambrose McEvoy zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 7.500,00 (€ 8.087,63) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Ambrose McEvoy mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of Dorothy Duveen, Three-Quarter Length, Seated On A Red Chair beobachtet, die im Juni 2007 für GBP 13.200,00 (€ 19.588,14) versteigert wurde.
