Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The ardent suitor by Alfonso Savini was sold in the 19th Century European Art Including Orientalist Pictures auction at Christies in London in November 2002. The price achieved of GBP 2,937.50 (€ 4,599.97) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alfonso Savini - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Italian Tales Of The Heroes, which sold at auction in March 2008 for GBP 8,750.00 (€ 10,992.17).
