Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Alfred W. Elmore could be acquired at Christies in London in January 2007 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Lyndon Goodwin Harris Collection of Watercolours by Albert Goodwin, Joseph Edward Southall & Other Artists auction, the work Alfred W. Elmore (1815-1881) changed hands for GBP 132.00 (€ 199.16) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 200.00 – 400.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alfred W. Elmore achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mary Queen of Scots and Christopher Norton at Bolton Castle in September 2002 with an auction result of GBP 7,637.50 (€ 12,137.74).
