This print is from Camera Work No. 36, edited and published by Alfred Stieglitz, New York, October 1911.

This artwork by Alfred Stieglitz achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Sydney in August this year. In the Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century auction, the work City of Ambition, 1910 sold for USD 5,292.00 (€ 4,882.37) - well above the upper estimate of USD 2,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alfred Stieglitz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work From the Back-Window, - '291 ', 1915 in March 2015 with an auction result of USD 473,000.00 (€ 440,368.68).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Alfred Stieglitz erzielte im August diesen Jahres bei Christies in Sydney einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century wurde die Arbeit City of Ambition, 1910 für USD 5.292,00 (€ 4.882,37) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 2.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alfred Stieglitz erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit From the Back-Window, - '291 ', 1915 im März 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 473.000,00 (€ 440.368,68).
