In December 2003 Christies in New York held the auction Sporting Art, which included the work Mackintosh, A Bay Colt With Sam Loates Up, At Newmarket by Alfred Grenfell Haigh. The price achieved of USD 9,560.00 (€ 7,589.11) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Mackintosh, A Bay Colt With Sam Loates Up, At Newmarket is the most expensive artwork by Alfred Grenfell Haigh that we have observed at auctions so far.
