Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2000 Christies in New York held the auction American Paintings and Sculpture, which included the work Near Rotterdam and Near Amsterdam: two works by Alfred Cornelius Howland. The price achieved of USD 3,525.00 (€ 4,153.90) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alfred Cornelius Howland - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work War Stories, which sold at auction in March 2008 for USD 23,750.00 (€ 15,026.89).
