In November 2001 Christies in London held the auction Sporting Art and Dogs, which included the work Winglass, with jockey up by Alfred Charles Havell. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,821.25 (€ 2,898.18), 52% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Alfred Charles Havell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Steeplechasing, traditionally identified as 'Racing in Ireland' in May 2003 with an auction result of GBP 18,522.50 (€ 25,806.51).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 52 % übertroffen
Im November 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion Sporting Art and Dogs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Winglass, with jockey up von Alfred Charles Havell zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.821,25 (€ 2.898,18) und damit 52% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Alfred Charles Havell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Steeplechasing, traditionally identified as 'Racing in Ireland' im Mai 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 18.522,50 (€ 25.806,51).
