The »bidding war« ended at GBP 209,000.00 (€ 244,927.37), 39% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alfons Walde - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Der Aufstieg, which sold at auction in December 2016 for EUR 762,500.00.

Die Arbeit Spätwinter von Alfons Walde wurde im März 2017 in der Auktion Impressionist and Modern Art Day Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 209.000,00 (€ 244.927,37) und damit 39% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Alfons Walde mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Der Aufstieg beobachtet, die im Dezember 2016 für EUR 762.500,00 versteigert wurde.
