In the British, Victorian and Scottish Pictures including Pictures auction, the work Rock pool, Arran sold for GBP 352.50 (€ 576.24) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 200.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Alexander S. Burns; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The old aqueduct, Nantes sold at auction in March 2002 with the realized price of GBP 411.25 (€ 672.29).
