The work Two-Toned Moon by Alexander Calder was sold in the Post-War & Contemporary Art Evening Sale auction at Christies in New York in November 2017. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,412,500.00 (€ 2,027,651.71), 61% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Alexander Calder have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Poisson volant (Flying Fish) in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 25,925,000.00 (€ 19,006,598.24).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 61 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Two-Toned Moon von Alexander Calder wurde im November 2017 in der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Evening Sale bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 2.412.500,00 (€ 2.027.651,71) und damit 61% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Alexander Calder auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Poisson volant (Flying Fish) im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 25.925.000,00 (€ 19.006.598,24).
