In April 2006 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Pictures, which included the work Gondolas before the Santa Maria della Salute, Venice; Steps down to the shore; A boat moored in the harbour; and Two boats at low tide by Alan Stenhouse Gourley. The price achieved of GBP 384.00 (€ 554.22) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Other works by Alan Stenhouse Gourley have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in November 2005 the work An Eastern Street Scene was auctioned for GBP 576.00 (€ 846.22).
