In the South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art Including Works from the Collection of Mahinder and Sharad Tak auction, the work Panch Kanya II sold for USD 11,970.00 (€ 10,790.59) - well above the upper estimate of USD 6,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Akhilesh; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot An Untitled Work In Four Panels sold at auction in September 2008 with the realized price of USD 30,000.00 (€ 21,305.31).
