Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait of a seated lady by Agnes Millen Richmond was auctioned at Christies in New York in June 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,250.00 (€ 793.75). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Agnes Millen Richmond - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of the artist's husband, Winthrop Turney, seated on a bed, which sold at auction in April 2006 for GBP 1,800.00 (€ 2,597.91).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait of a seated lady von Agnes Millen Richmond im Juni 2008 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.250,00 (€ 793,75) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Agnes Millen Richmond mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of the artist's husband, Winthrop Turney, seated on a bed beobachtet, die im April 2006 für GBP 1.800,00 (€ 2.597,91) versteigert wurde.
