Auction result well in line with expectations
In July last year Bonhams in New York held the auction Modern and Contemporary Art and Photography from Africa and the Diaspora, which included the work The King Libne Dengel and his retinue by the Valley of Semien by Afewerk Tekle. The price achieved of USD 14,025.00 (€ 13,747.30) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Afewerk Tekle - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Ethiopian defender Of His Country, which sold at auction in October 2018 for GBP 32,500.00 (€ 36,649.97).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Art and Photography from Africa and the Diaspora durch, in der auch die Arbeit The King Libne Dengel and his retinue by the Valley of Semien von Afewerk Tekle zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 14.025,00 (€ 13.747,30) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Afewerk Tekle mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Ethiopian defender Of His Country beobachtet, die im Oktober 2018 für GBP 32.500,00 (€ 36.649,97) versteigert wurde.
