Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work The Afar Boy by Afewerk Tekle was worth GBP 7,560.00 (€ 8,963.23) to a buyer in March last year. This price was achieved in the auction Modern & Contemporary African Art | and CCA Lagos Benefit Auction at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,800.00 many times over. Admittedly, works by Afewerk Tekle have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ethiopian defender Of His Country in October 2018 with an auction result of GBP 32,500.00 (€ 36,649.97).

Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art | and CCA Lagos Benefit Auction bei Sothebys in London erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.800,00 um ein Vielfaches. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Afewerk Tekle auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ethiopian defender Of His Country im Oktober 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 32.500,00 (€ 36.649,97).
