Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In March 2021 Bonhams in London held the auction 19th Century and British Impressionist Art, which included the work Light and shade by Adolphe Monticelli. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 12,112.50 (€ 14,229.07), 21% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Adolphe Monticelli achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Au Bord De La Rivière, Marseilles in May 2013 with an auction result of USD 413,000.00 (€ 317,985.83).
