This artwork by Adjani Okpu-Egbe achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in March 2021. In the Modern and Contemporary African Art auction, the work Mute Lives sold for GBP 13,860.00 (€ 16,281.93) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Adjani Okpu-Egbe; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Bearing Witness To Dystopia: Multigenerational Genocide, Fascism, And Rumours Of Civil War (Diptych), 2020 sold at auction in June 2021 with the realized price of EUR 24,390.00.
